Join Betsy, Erin & Alex for a 3-day event in Ohio! Plus, esteemed teacher Nancy Shriber will be joining us, showcasing her giftings in the art of hand-stitching.

The Sewing Workshop team will be hosting a Pattern Testing Workshop in a lovely Brunswick, Ohio venue where you will work exclusively with The Sewing Workshop's newest pattern, which is yet to be released.

The Sewing Workshop is stepping back into its origins by offering a 2024 version of a previously sought-after event; a Pattern Testing Workshop. In the early 90s, students would meet with Linda and work alongside her to master the techniques of new Sewing Workshop patterns, getting an inside look into the pattern development process and receiving exclusive access to the new pattern. In this Pattern Testing Workshop, students will receive the newest pattern of The Sewing Workshop before it is released to the public! The pattern and guidesheet will be provided. Betsy, Erin, and Alex will teach specific techniques within the pattern. Enjoy three full days of unhindered sewing, instruction, and technique mastery alongside other sewing enthusiasts. Participants can sew at their own pace, sewing the new pattern at their desired speed. Leave with a finished garment or confidence to complete the project at home. Evenings are unscheduled so that you can explore Cleveland or the surrounding area, enjoying dinners or visiting local sites & favorite spots recommended by a Cleveland-loving local, Alex.

Nancy Shriber will be taking this garment and "playing" with it using her stitching techniques. She will host a trunk show of some of her favorite hand-stitched garments, where you'll be able to see a blend of sashiko and simple embroideries to take your garment to the next level. She'll be teaching her hand stitching techniques which is a perfect inclusion for added intrigue in this garment.

Join Linda Lee and The Sewing Workshop Team in Topeka, Kansas.  In this workshop, you'll dive into a set of skills centering around the art of modern garment sewing with an artistic edge. The event will take place at the NOTO Artspace in the arts-hub of North Topeka, paired with trunk shows & shopping at The Sewing Workshop Studio in downtown Topeka.

Using the Chicago Jacket pattern or the London Shirt pattern, you will learn how to alter one of these patterns in order to create your own unique fractured jacket. The idea for a fractured jacket involves looking at each pattern piece as a canvas for “fracturing”, or re-creating the lines through embellishment of the garment. These patterns offer a blank canvas with open and uncluttered spaces for design and fabric manipulation. You will choose to make a jacket in one of the following embellishment techniques: Appliqué, reverse appliqué and strip appliqué.

Linda and the team will walk you through the process of artfully designing your own fractured jacket. Students will gain the tools and techniques in order to masterfully create a personalized and beautiful garment. Each workshop will begin in the studio where you will work through the design and construction elements to your jacket. The day will include a lunch break, followed by more time in the sewing studio, with a couple of afternoons featuring artist showcases in silk painting and other wearable art inspirations.

Along with ample sewing time, The Sewing Workshop is hosting you in Topeka, Kansas like never before. This workshop also provides inspirational experiences in Topeka that are designed to encourage and infuse your sewing and creative process.
