Plaza Jacket created as a vest, with front band addition. I love the metallic and ornate silk used here.
4 Women of Design 2008 Plaza Jacket "I wanted to develop a project for the Fashioned in Silk class that I am teaching for 4 Women of Design in Sacramento in April 2008. I wanted the project to be a learning experience that included a selection of seam and hem finishes that are traditionally uses in silk garments." ~Linda
4 Women of Design 2008 Plaza Jacket Detail "The basic jacket is made in the String colorway of the ribbed silk and linen that we offer in the fabric section of this web site. I've inserted an panel of kimono pieces in the center back. I get most of my kimono pieces from Ah! Kimono. The pieces are sewn together using Hong Kong finishes and French seams. The jacket is constructed using turned and stitched seams and the hems are turned and pressed uisng our signature template method. I lengthened the jacket 1 1/2" and made a size extra small, even though I am usually a medium in my patterns." ~Linda

The fall season is approaching. I can't wait until the temperature drops, when jackets are an everyday wardrobe essential. This Plaza Jacket was made by a customer in a beautiful brown stripe fabric. I love her use of closures here, to add a little detail to this simple jacket.
