Stella Top in Cotton Challis
When I think of challis, I conjure up images of European paisley wool skirts. Beautiful, but not exactly what I am wearing these days, especially in the summer.
This is wool challis in the classic paisley design of curved, tear-shaped motifs based on stylized pine cone designs. I've been in the fabric business for a long time, and rarely do I see challis fabrics, let alone something besides wool or rayon challis.
This summer we received two pieces of cotton challis from J Crew and they are exquisite. One is red on white printed flowers, the other is the reverse using white flowers on a red background.Challis is a very soft, semi-sheer worsted fabric. These two cotton challis fabrics are lightweight, airy, cool to wear and wash beautifully. Take advantage of these fabrics for your summer comfort.
