Alabama Chanin Weekend
The dust has settled and the new website has launched! Now we can really concentrate of the important things - our love of sewing.
We had our first Stitch Night at our Topeka studio last night. Our first gathering since returning from the Alabama Chanin studio. It was a great reminder of how much fun we had during our visit August 1-3.
A weekend at the Alabama Chanin studio in Florence, Alabama was a truly inspirational experience. The town instantly draws you in with it's feeling of community, organic living, quaint downtown and family atmosphere. The studio itself encompasses that same feeling and you never want to leave.
The weekend started with a nice introduction to the company, their iconic style and fabric, Organic Cotton Jersey. Then we were ready to jump into our projects. Drawing from the inspiration all around - the studio and store was amazing - we could pick a project to start Saturday morning. Whether you're feeling ambitious with a long, completely stenciled skirt or just a single panel stenciled tank. The work is slow, relaxing and completely addicting. Once you start, you can't stop.
We were surrounded by inspiration. So many ideas, too little time. We had to just keep thinking, take one project at a time.
The group of ladies that met in Florence were from all over the country. Everyone was such a pleasure to work with and creative around. Here's a few captured shots of part of our group and their progress throughout the weekend.
