Join Linda Lee and The Sewing Workshop Team in Santa Fe, New Mexico for a personalized sewing & cultural experience. In this workshop, you'll dive into a set of skills centering around the art of modern garment sewing with an artistic edge. The event will take place at the historic La Fonda on the Plaza where we will enjoy their beautiful La Terraza venue room, full of natural daylight and high ceilings.
Using the Chicago Jacket pattern or the London Shirt pattern, you will learn how to alter one of these patterns in order to create your own unique fractured jacket. The idea for a fractured jacket involves looking at each pattern piece as a canvas for “fracturing”, or re-creating the lines through embellishment of the garment. These patterns offer a blank canvas with open and uncluttered spaces for design and fabric manipulation.
Linda and the team will walk you through the process of artfully designing your own fractured jacket. Students will gain the tools and techniques in order to masterfully create a personalized and beautiful garment. Each workshop will begin in the studio where you will work through the design and construction elements to your jacket. The day will include a lunch break, followed by more time in the sewing studio. Along with ample sewing time, afternoons and evenings are available to shop and explore the city! This workshop also provides cultural experiences in Santa Fe designed to inspire and infuse your sewing and creative process. Short trips to galleries, studios and shopping excursions will immerse you into the Santa Fe experience.
