Sewing & Stitchery Expo 2011: Thursday

The first day of the Sewing & Stitchery Expo is complete-and we had a blast! It’s always so fun to meet & be reintroduced to all of our loyal & inspiring customers. We love when customers come up to the booth wearing our patterns. Whether the patterns (and fabric too) were purchased in our booth last year, or many years before, it’s always fun to see how each individual creates the pattern for them. The fabric choices, the design elements, the details that really make the garment all about them!
Here are just a few great pictures that I captured today.
This Trio Top is fabulous! The blend of black & white cottons and linens is subtle, yet dramatic with the piecing in front, as well as on the back yoke.
A little dream, a little fashion......

Everyone seems to have a list of certain things they want to accomplish or do in their lifetime. Places they want to see, things they want to experience, risks they want to take. Well, one of my loves in life is New York City. And what better way to enjoy NYC than with a little fashion. Since I wasn't lucky enough to attend New York Fashion Week recently, I've been living the dream via pictures.
And what do you know? Some of the most fabulous garments seen on attendees or models in the fashion shows could be created using our patterns. Here's a little inspiration for your weekend. Enjoy!
Origami Skirt anyone?
Definitely need to dig this one out of the archives.

So many sweater knits, so little time!

Sweater Knit Verona Jacket-Free Tutorial

I just can't stop sewing. Those creative juices are flowing!!!
Next stop, the Verona Jacket. The Verona Jacket has always been "uncharted territory" for me. It's a little more fitted than I would normally choose to wear. I like more movement & flexibility in my clothing. But this is such a great pattern, I needed to find a fabric that would make this garment work for me. Then we received the most amazing heavy-weight wool knits, in floral. I couldn't resist.

This is the best time of year to really get into your craft. The cold weather just screams for creative nights at home, just me & my sewing machine.
Here's a peak at what I've been working on recently.
