Linda's Class, Sewing: Exploring Fit, Fashion, and Finish

Bring your adventurous sewing dreams to life by joining Linda Lee of the Sewing Workshop Pattern Collection for a week-long fitting and sewing experience. Discover new talents and hone your skills by immersing yourself in garment sewing wonder.

So let’s make a plan. In this workshop, you’ll dive into a set of skills that centers around the art of modern garment sewing. With her extensive creative and technical knowledge, Linda will help you fit and prepare patterns appropriate for your figure type, consult in the selection of suitable fabrics from your own stash and new sources that fit your lifestyle, and demonstrate both classic and innovative constructions details. You will leave having constructed at least one well-made garment, as well as some samples of various techniques, and a host of other patterns ready to complete your wardrobe plan. All skill levels are welcome.

Shakerag Workshops

Shakerag Workshops is a group of arts classes for adults held in June each year on the St. Andrew's-Sewanee campus, in Sewanee, Tennessee. Instructors from around the world offer classes in a variety of media - knitting, basketry, book arts, clay, digital arts, felting, fiber, mixed media, jewelry, wood carving, and painting. Most participants, faculty, and staff stay on the campus, eating and working together for the week. After classes, participants enjoy hiking on the campus trails, swimming in the stream-fed mountain lake, and relaxing in yoga classes. Meals prepared by local caterers feature locally grown and organic foods served in historic Robinson Dining Hall. In the evenings, faculty members show slides and talk about their work. The studios are open throughout the night. On Wednesday evenings a visiting artist comes as part of the Artist's Life Series, discussing the relationship between one's art and one's life. The week culminates with a Tennessee meal on Friday evening for faculty and participants.
